A Diet for People with MS?

I’d like to dedicate this article to a question many of you ask me in this group.

Is there a diet for people with MS?

Following a healthy diet can play an important part in reducing inflammation and alleviating common side effects seen in MS, such as constipation and fatigue.

Overall, a well-balanced eating plan like the Mediterranean diet can meet these requirements.

The Mediterranean diet encourages daily consumption of colorful fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats such as nuts and olive oil.
It promotes weekly consumption of fish, poultry, beans, eggs, as well as moderate consumption of low-fat dairy products and limited red meat consumption.

Beans, chickpeas, lentils, whole grains, nuts, fruits, and vegetables are high in fiber.
They can be very beneficial for healthy bowel movements. Also, sufficient fluid intake will help encourage healthy bowel movements.

Saturated fats such as meat, full-fat dairy products, and butter should be limited as they can increase inflammation. Limit sugar-containing foods and carbohydrates with white flour as they also increase inflammation.
